Heart Health Month: Make Up Your Own Mind!

February is Heart Health Month. Heart disease is a major issue for many Americans so I am glad it gives us an opportunity to look at improving health.

However, I encourage you all to dig deeper and make up your own mind as the ‘standard dietary recommendations’ and statin treatments are simply not getting the results that we want. There is a better way!

A simple blood test can give you insight into your cholesterol and other lipid levels. However, as you can see from this infograph from Dr. Mercola your TOTAL cholesterol number is not the main indicator for your heart disease risk.  As the link shows, the best way to determine you risk is to divide your HDL level by your total cholesterol for one result and then divide your triglycerides by your HDL level for the other number.

In 2015, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans changed and no longer recommend that high cholesterol foods be limited. This should be celebrated but is long overdue. For more information on heart healthy diets I like the Weston A. Price Foundation website,

Essential Oils Class at Thrive on Feb 27 10:30 AM:  How to Live in a Toxic World

Margaret Morris returns to teach another class about essential oils this month…

From our air, water and food, to personal care products, and household cleaners we are immersed in chemicals and toxins at unprecedented rates.

Is there something we can do to improve the situation? You bet! We can make positive lifestyle choices to help keep toxins to a minimum. Our bodies are designed to detoxify naturally, but when you have a toxic overload you may need additional help. There are many cleansing kits and detoxifying programs to choose from.  Massage, chiropractic care, and essential oils can be potent helpers in the quest for optimum health.

Join us for a timely discussion about reducing our toxic load and how essential oils can help support our health on Saturday morning February 27, 10:30–12:00 in the office with Margaret Morris.

Please RSVP to Margret Morris at [email protected] or call (513) 794-0442.

Creating a Morning Routine for a Successful Day

The way you start your morning can set the tone for the rest of your day. Most people have experienced a rushed, busy morning that left them feeling anxious or stressed for the rest of the day.  This article from Superhuman Entrepreneur gives you suggestions for a 6-step morning routine that will help you go on to have a positive and productive day.  Starting your day with a consistent routine including a short exercise routine, meditation, making your bed and determining the important parts of your to-do list, will help you transform your life.

Natural Supplements to Help with Sleep

Sleepless, restless nights are common issue for many people.  Approximately 15%-20% of people suffer from short term insomnia, lasting 3 months or less. Ten percent of people suffer from chronic insomnia which lasts longer than 3 months.

There are some principles to follow to improve your sleep. Check them out in this PDF from a talk I did last year.

Magnesium Lactate, Valerian Complex and MinTran are three natural supplement options from Standard Process we use at the office to promote better sleep when we need extra help. Let us know any questions.
