Video: Chiropractic and Sleep

Last week I presented to an interdisciplinary group of health providers about chiropractic and sleep.

Do you know all the ways chiropractic care impacts quality of sleep? Watch this video to learn more.

Here are some other things you can do on your own to improve sleep quality:

  • Cold room (60-67 F)
  • Darkness – Cover blinking lights, alarms, black out curtains, etc.
  • Mattress – Firm and supportive
  • Pillow – Keeping your neck and spine in neutral position
  • Sleeping position – Ideally on back; if not then side.
  • Food Restriction –  3 hours from last meal until sleep
  • Overall diet and nutrition
  • Magnesium
  • Alcohol and Caffeine – limit
  • No electronics/screens – leading up to bedtime
  • Gratitude/Journal
  • EXERCISE!
  • Consistent Schedule
  • Morning sunlight

A couple if items that I frequently recommend in the office will likely be available in the coming days at a discount.

The Shakti mat uses acupressure points to relax muscles. I use it multiple time a week for my back, neck and feet!

The Mobo Board would be great for anyone looking to improve single leg balance and strength and mobility.

Gift cards for massage from the therapists upstairs at Thrive would make a great gift for the holidays. Links to their sites are here:

Matthew Spahr, LMT is ready to massage!

Matthew is now seeing clients upstairs at Thrive! You can learn more about him here (and watch the above video) and schedule directly here

Recipe of the Month: Dry Brine Turkey

For the past several years, this recipe has been awesome for our Thanksgiving meal at the Haggenjos household!

We typically get our turkey from Eaton Farm or Green Acres Farm and dry brine for  few days using the technique in the recipe.
