Video: Gratitude as we approach Thanksgiving

My family and I take a moment to mention what we are thankful for prior to bedtime. (Video is 1 minute 30 seconds). With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, what better time to highlight the real physiological changes our bodies experience when we give thanks.

Here are seven reasons to practice gratitude with references to the research studies in the article:

1. Gratitude opens the door to more relationships.
2. Gratitude improves physical health.
3. Gratitude improves psychological health.
4. Gratitude enhances empathy and reduces aggression.
5. Grateful people sleep better.
6. Gratitude improves self-esteem.
7. Gratitude increases mental strength.

November Office Hours

The chiropractic office will be closed on Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th. Happy Thanksgiving!

Chiropractic Helps Max Scherzer Return for Game 7 World Series Win

World Series Champion and Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer woke up with a spasm and pinched nerve in his neck – unable to move well enough to even get dressed – in the midst of the World Series. He was scratched from his planned start and  this article details how the team chiropractor and a cortisone shot helped Scherzer get in shape to start the critical game seven!

“Our chiropractor, he does amazing work, he was able to go in there and make adjustments. We did two treatments of it and really freed up the neck, the C5-C6 area, along with the trap, spasm, really felt like it subsided. And even when I was warming up tonight I felt really good. I’m good to go.”

Podcast: Oprah talks with Eckhart Tolle

Oprah speaks to Eckhart Tolle in this podcast (21 minutes). My wife, Dina, and I listened to it on a recent car ride and took away some great points and laughed along the way. I read Tolle’s The Power of Now about 15 years ago and it remains one of my favorite books for the impact it has had on me.

In a live interview from Vancouver in Canada, Oprah sits down with visionary thought leader, spiritual pioneer and New York Times best-selling author Eckhart Tolle. As a part of her Path Made Clear book tour, Oprah is joined on stage by Eckhart, a special guest who impacted her journey, for a unique one-on-one conversation. The two discuss how we can best accept the present moment and see it in its purest form; Eckhart also talks about how to control our ego and get to the “essence of who we are.” Finally, Oprah and Eckhart share their feelings on the media, social media and the seemingly troubled times in which we live.

Two Rooms Available on Second Floor of Office

We are very pleased that Chrisanthi Fekkos and Lauren Wales remain with us to serve people on the second floor of our office. Both women are very skilled and you often need to book weeks in advance to get on their schedules!

Kelly Nickel and Suzanne Lautz Singh have recently moved out to pursue other opportunities.

With that in mind, we are looking forward to welcoming one or two new practitioners to join us!

Massage therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, nutrition, health coach – any great complementary service in the health field would be considered.
