Kelly is an experienced LMT and her specialties include deep tissue massage; sports massage; neuromuscular and trigger point therapy; and TMJ Dysfunction therapy. In addition, she is adding hot stone massage to her repertoire and will be offering that service soon.

Here is a brief bio from Kelly:

My interest in massage therapy first began when I was pregnant with my twin boys. Suffering from horrible back pain and hyperemesis, I began receiving weekly massage and chiropractic care which helped me ease the pain and to keep a meal down! Due to this care, I was able to carry my healthy boys to almost 36 weeks and had a relatively easy delivery, I also bounced back quickly which helped me keep up with them!
After having my children, I received my massage therapy certification from SHI Integrative Medical Massage School in Lebanon, Ohio. I began working with chiropractors immediately which has taught me so much more about how the body works. I am continually amazed at how each person’s body is so unique and responds to different forms of therapies.
I am grateful to still be working in a field that I love for almost 12 years and continue to learn new forms of therapies. I tend to use a variety of techniques according to how a patient’s body is responding. Specifically this may include: Temperomandibular Joint Dysfunction therapy; Swedish, sports and deep tissue massage; trigger point therapy and neuromuscular therapy including active/passive release. I do also still love giving a wonderful relaxation massage and am happy to introduce hot stone massage at Thrive Chiropractic soon!
My mission is to help people remove any issue that hinders living life to the fullest. This may be a specific injury or just overall stress present in their body. I look forward to working with you!

Thanks for Making Our Grand Opening a Fun Celebration

We had an awesome time visiting with you in October at the Open House celebration. Thank you to all those who came out, both old friends and new!

The Oakley neighborhood has welcomed us enthusiastically and we are very pleased with our new home. Below are a couple pictures of the festivities.

Utilize your health insurance benefits and FSA accounts prior to 2014 calendar year

At this time of year, many people have about-to-expire funds in their FSA accounts. Remember, we can help you purchase a package of adjustments that you can use over time rather than letting this money go unused.

Other folks have met their deductible and/or family deductibles for the year. When this is the case, many policies have small or no co-pays for chiropractic visits. Now is a good time to use these chiropractic visit benefits that you have as part of your policies!

Shawna is happy to take your insurance info and let you know your exact costs per visit. Call or email the office for help.

Meet our friend, Health Coach Zach Franke

We all use coaches to help us improve different aspects of our lives. Most of us have had coaches for sports. How about coaches for business or career development? Coaches sometimes have other names, like teacher, mentor, trainer, minister, etc. Have you considered a coach for your health?

Zach Franke is so enthusiastic about healthy living that he devotes his time to coaching others so they can enjoy more health and life. We like his philosophy and encourage you to visit his website here.

Questions? Get in touch with Zach to see how he may be able to help you.

Do you experience the “Sunday Night Blues”?

You are not alone according to this recent article. About four of five people reported feeling some negative emotions as the weekend winds down.

The Sunday Night Blues are created by a combination of realizing weekend fun is coming to an end and anticipating the beginning of five days of pressure, meaning it can strike even those who like their jobs. “Work is now spread out into home life with increasing demands because of email and the ability to work remotely,” says Steven Meyers, professor of psychology at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill. “Work has become more of a drain for many people than it was a decade or two ago. There’s more to dread nowadays.

The article recommends five good strategies to curb these emotions and help you ease into the workweek more gracefully.
