Exercise is Best to Treat Low Back Pain

Low back back pain is one of the top reasons for visits to doctors across the world.  Chris Maher, a physical therapist and health researcher in Australia, set out to find what is most likely to prevent low back pain in all types of people. He reviewed 21 studies from around the world and all came to the same conclusion- the best thing to help prevent and treat lower back pain is exercise.

In this article from NPR, Dr. Tim Carey, an internist at UNC Chapel Hill said that medical providers are too quick to prescribe drugs or ineffective options for back pain. This points to larger problems in healthcare as new medicines are more likely to receive funding instead of less expensive alternatives like exercise, physical therapy or chiropractic.

The most important thing one can do to protect their back is to use it! The researchers found the type of exercise was not so important, simply doing something was the key.

10 Researched Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Most people think of pain relief when they think about chiropractic care. However, there are many other reasons why visiting a chiropractor is important to your health.  In this article by Dr. Jockers, he discusses ten benefits of chiropractic care backed by research. Some highlights include:

Helping with Behavioral and Sensory disorders- Chiropractic care has been shown to help children concentrate which can help them relieve learning and behavioral problems. Many children with ADHD and autism seek out chiropractic care to help with these issues.
